The Charles Cross Concert Band

The Concert Band was originally formed in 2002 from members of the Charles Cross School of Music.  Now consisting of 38 members, rehearsals take place on Mondays at Plympton St Maurice Primary School between 7 and 9pm. The Musical Director is Dr Tony Evans and the Bandmaster is Mr Wayne Smith, a Graduate of the Charles Cross School of Music.

The Band gives around eight concerts a year, and has included a performance at Plymouth's spectacular Music of the Night.  In 2006, the members enjoyed a concert tour of Wales and more tours are planned for the future.

Entry to the Band is strictly by audition, which will be taken informally by the Musical Director or the Bandmaster.  We presently have a vacancy for an oboist, a bassoonist and a tuba player.
